We Provide

Our firm focuses on family law issues, like divorce, child custody, legitimation, child support, visitation, adoption, misdemeanor crimes, contempt, grandparents rights, estates, probate, wills, living trusts, and property division.

Divorce - We do uncontested and contested divorces.  Sometimes there are property and debt issues, and sometimes child custody issues.  Custody, support, and equitable division of property and debt and common to almost every divorce.  These issues can be complicated.

Child Custody- After the divorce the circumstances can change.  We can help you change or retain custody.  The facts of your case are important and we can you to recognize those which are important to the Court.  If you are not married, then the laws affecting custody may be much differe- If you are not married we can help you, as the father, legitimate the child so that you may have equal rights with the mother.  If you are the Mother, we can help you keep your rights and ensure that you get the monetary support that you are entitled to.

Child Support- The State of Georgia has created a system of income sharing that requires careful legal analysis.  We are very familiar with this system and can help you legally ensure that the support is determined by the Court in an amount that is equitable under our laws.

Contempt of Court- Sometimes a person is unable to pay a court ordered litigation.  This might result in incarceration.  By knowing the law and the factors involved in a contempt case we can help you to understand the situation and what can be done to avoid this potential problem.

Modification - You work hard.  Your property should be divided and administered in the manner you desire, not what the State of Georgia dictates (which they do if you don't have a will or living trust).  We can help ensure that the future of your family is protected in the way that you desire.   We can help your family avoid expensive legal problems by planning now.  Sometimes there are creative solutions which may help to resolve complicated legal problems.  In the State of Georgia the Living Will and the Durable Health Power of Attorney have been combined by statute since 2007 into a document called the Advanced Health Care Directive.  It's important that during the estate planning process you review this document to ensure that your wishes are known to your family.

Probate - When a person dies, you have the emotional grief then comes the reality.  Their assets must be divided and typically this is done through the probate process.   To probate means to prove.  You must probate or prove to the court that a will did or did not exist.  Then, the Personal Representative must be appointed to carry out their duties.  This can be complicated, heart wrenching and complicated by the emotions of the family.  Georgia has some special laws regarding probate procedures and an experienced attorney can help you avoid the pitfalls.

Temporary Protective Orders and Familiy Violence - Georgia has strong family violence laws that protect victims of domestic violence.  Both victims and the accused can suffer if their rights aren't advocated in the proper manner.  The system can be somewhat manipulated by those familiar with the system, but an experienced attorney can help you avoid pitfalls and protect your rights.

Misdemeanor Crimes and DUI - Sometimes we make mistakes.  If you or a family member is accused of committing a misdemeanor crime or a DUI you need experience legal representation.  The government willl agggressively prosecute you and you need an advocate who is familiar with the criminal justice system.  For more serious crimes, we will assemble a team to represent you so that you may have the best possible defense.

Adoptions - The practice of law is highly adversarial, so we are thrilled when we are able to help step-parents, grandparents, and others adoption children.  We have handled contested and uncontested adoptions.  We have successfully terminated parental rights of biological fathers so that these children may be adopted by loving prents.

Personal Injury - There are lots of personal injury attorneys on television who would be glad to help you with your case.  I limit my practice to two or three personal injury cases per year so that they can be carefully handled.  Please call and discuss your case with us if you have an automobile accident with serious injuries.

Licensed to practice in the Georgia State Courts, including the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Georgia Court of Appeals, as well as the Federal Courts (11th Circuit)
